Our Parent Community
We want to grow our Parent Community. A parent community in a school is an opportunity for parents to gather around the shared interest of improving their students educational experience and quality of life.
Students are at their best when their parents needs are met.
As a parent or guardian of a student within the DOE parents can access workshops, resources and enrichment opportunities. These are provided to help parents learn important skills that will help their student, here are examples of what this can look like:
Workshops on how Parents can support students navigating college admissions.
Referrals to English lessons at a Community Based Organization.
Listings for Food Pantries.
Parent Affinity Groups like Community Garden volunteering to encourage home gardening and meeting other parents.
These all rely on Parent Engagement and feedback. Let your Parent Coordinator know what you are interested in and don't be shy about signing up!
Parent Engagement Requirements:
All New Parent Engagements require a minimum ten(10) people sign up.
If you enrolled please attend, if our parent engagements continue to have low attendance we cannot continue to host programming. Think of other parents who may need these programs.
In person Parent Engagements will either have a meal, gift or free pantry items to take home. Your RSVP is necessary for head counts so we do not over or under purchase.

Provided by the Mayors Office of Immigrant Affairs and partnered Community Organizations. Tell us within the form what topic you would like to learn or think our community needs the most. Topics that can be covered are:
NYC Law and Policies: Local laws designed to protect Immigrant New Yorkers.
IDNYC: The free municipal identification card available to all New York City residents, regardless of immigration status, which includes various benefits and discounts.
MOIA's Immigration Legal Support Hotline: A resource offering free, safe immigration and legal assistance in various languages, covering applications for citizenship, green cards, and visas.
English Language Learning Program: MOIA’s free English language learning program.
NYC Care: A program guaranteeing low-cost or no-cost healthcare access through NYC Health + Hospitals for New Yorkers who do not qualify for or cannot afford health insurance.
Access HRA: Information on the NYC Human Resources Administration's resources, including SNAP benefits.
Mental Health: Resources connecting all residents—including children, adults, veterans, LGBTQ+ New Yorkers, and immigrants—with essential mental health services.

All workshops are initially planned as virtual (on the computer) unless there is a majority request from parents to host in person. If you do not have access to a computer or internet:
Give a minimum of five(5) days notice to the Parent Coordinator.
Wait for confirmation.
You will then be able to come in person and use a computer in the school.
Community gardening activities will be done in person if you need transportation support please contact the Parent Coordinator at least five(5) days before the event.

All events will take place virtually 5pm (&later) and at various hours on Saturdays.
