  • Luna - Class of 2011 I studied at MCNDHS from 2008 to 2011. I am indebted to many teachers and counselors, with whose help I applied and was accepted by Barnard College, as well as Albert Shanker Scholarship, and Scholarship Plus, which would make going to college possible. I am graduating this May with a major in Physics, and have been awarded Henry A. Boorse Prize and Grace Potter Ricer Fellowship for having a record in physics that shows most promise of distinction in a scientific career. I was accepted to pursue a Ph. D. degree in Applied Physics/Applied Math at Harvard. Besides the academics, I volunteered to teach documentary filmmaking at Cape Town and interned as a reporter at WNYC.

  • Awa Sow I graduated from MCNDHS in June 2013. I am originally from Senegal. When I first came in to this country, I didn't speak English at all. With the help of the CDI staff and my wonderful teachers at Manhattan Comprehensive, I was able to read, write and communicate well in English within a year. The cultural differences did not really affect me because the school staff was very welcoming and I felt very comfortable even though I had a hard time understanding the teachers at first.CDI helped (and is still helping) me with both legal and financial matters. Manhattan comprehensive gave me the opportunity to be successful and opened many doors for me as an immigrant. Being at ...

  • Ana Urquizo I received my high school diploma in 2005. Initially, I went to LaGuardia Community College, where I was a part time student. While attending LaGuardia, I was working full time and taking only one or two courses per semester. In 2009, I began the Mechanical Engineering program at The City College of New York. The program was extremely demanding and I became a full time student and worked only part time as a math tutor. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Engineering in 2013.All of these achievements would not have been possible without the help Comprehensive Development, Inc (CDI) offered me and MCNDHS. I strongly believe my choice of this this school was the best school choice I ...

I would love to give a special thanks to 3 people in particular; Beth Novick, Anna Bennett and Margaret Aylward. While at MCNDHS I was able to be apart of many great opportunities such as experiencing a summer at Cooper Union in a mechanical engineering program where we completed a Rube Goldberg Machine and being part of the Environmental ClubWhile attending BMCC I have ...

  • Khalifa Sogue I attended Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School from 2005-2007. I am originally from Senegal. I came to the United States to further my education and for the pursuit of a better life. MNDHS instilled in me confidence, leadership skills and team work. One of my English professors, Mr Ross, pushed me to be better in his class. He is the reason why I passed my English regents with flying colors. From the CDI staff to the school’ s staff the environment was a great. It made me want to push myself everyday because teachers wanted the best for us. Upon Graduation, I started college at New York City College of Technology where I pursued a degree in ...
