Science Graduation Requirements

Total Credits Needed: 6

All students must complete 6 credits in science. These credits must be distributed into:
  • Life Science sequence 2 credits (normally Living Environment or related biology course)
  • Physical Science sequence 2 credits (Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics or related course)
  • 2 additional credits science preferably in third science sequence

Physical Science 2 Chem 1 (1 credit), Chem 2 (1 credit) or Earth Sci 1 (1 credit), Earch Sci 2 (1 credit) Students completing the entire Chemistry or Earth Science sequence will earn 2.5 credits. Only 2 credits in any subject area can be counted towards fulfilling the 6 credits needed in science. The remaining 0.5 credit will count as 0.5 general elective credits.
Thrid Sequence 2 Chem 1 (1 credit), Chem 2 (1 credit) or Earth Sci 1 (1 credit), Earch Sci 2 (1 credit) Students completing the entire Chemistry or Earth Science sequence will earn 2.5 credits. Regents Exam Requirements: All students must pass at least 1 science regents exam in Earth Science, Living Environment, Chemistry or Physics in order to graduate.
Students wishing to earn an Advanced Regents Diploma must take a second science Regents Exam in a subject of their choice.
