Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the elements of art and a variety of mediums, as well an introduction to the history of Western art.Students will actively engage in the processes that constitute creation of visual art and will be knowledgeable about and make use of the materials and resources available for participation in the arts in various roles. Some of the projects they will work include: still life drawing, collage making, perspective drawings and paintings.
Graduation Requirements Satisfied: Satisfies 1 of 2 core credits toward graduation in Art.

Description: This course is designed to review and build on the skills learned in Art 1, with an emphasis on improving drawing techniques (ie. crosshatching, shading, negative vs. positive space, value scales etc.) and the use of various mediums. In addititon students will delve more deaply into the history of art, including non-western history such as Asian, Islamic and African art. Students will actively engage in the processes that constitute creation of visual art. Students will be knowledgeable about and make use of the materials and resources available for participation in the arts in various roles. Some of the projects they will work on will include: charcoal still lifes,oil pastel still lifes, value scaled self-portraits, asian style watercolor paintings, street perspective paintings, abrstract acrylic painting, advanced collage.
